Q: What was your very first Pokémon card?
A: Wurmple 103 from Platinum! There was a trading card vending machine near the checkout line at the Safeway grocery store my mom would shop at back when we lived in Phoenix, AZ. I remember begging her for cash to get my very own cards, and one fateful day, she finally caved. I wonder if she still would've made that decision if she had access to this website all the way back in 2006…
Q: Why do you prefer Pokémon over its contemporaries like Digimon or Yu-Gi-Oh?
A: I think it comes down to what you can use them for. Yu-Gi-Oh has a very engaging TCG, Digimon has insanely cool designs, and both have epic TV shows. However, Pokémon also has all those things and then some.
Q: How much is your collection worth?
Q: Who is your favorite Pokémon artist?
A: Yuka Morii! I love how she photographs clay models of Pokémon in real world locations. It makes me think about how I'd imagine many Pokémon would look if they were here with us in real life.
Q: If you could design a new Pokémon, what would you make?
A: My favorite kinds of animals are Cetaceans, so I would probably make a Beluga or Orca Pokémon that would lean into the design philosophy of Ghost and Dragon types.
Q: Who is the goodest boy?
A: Bentley of course
Q: What's your favorite song from Pokémon?
A: That's like asking me to pick a favorite child smh. For battle themes, I would say Cynthia or Gateway Colosseum, and for area themes, I would say Sinnoh Pokémon League Night or National Park.
Q: If you were a gym leader, which type would you use?
A: Ghost! My ace would be Cofagrigus or Dusknoir, and my gym would be presented as a Normal type gym with the twist reveal of many dark secrets hidden within. My battle theme would sound like a mix of Deep it Lies from NiGHTS Into Dreams and Death by Glamour from Undertale.
Q: Outside of Pokémon, what is your favorite video game?
A: I would say Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or Pizza Tower!
